From hairline fractures in plaster to step cracks running through brickwork, wall cracks are one of the most common reasons homeowners call us. But in our 30+ years of experience, we’ve found that cracks are rarely “just cosmetic.”
Most are caused by underlying issues such as sinking stumps, uneven floors, or shifting foundations. Simply patching over the damage won’t solve the problem — it will almost always return.
That’s why our focus is on diagnosis first: identifying whether the issue comes from your subfloor, stumps, or soil conditions. Once the foundation is stabilised through reblocking, levelling, or underpinning, wall cracks can be repaired with confidence.
For smaller cracks in brickwork, we carefully remove the affected mortar and replace it with fresh, matching mortar. This strengthens the wall and restores its appearance.
When cracks indicate movement, reinforcement may be required. We stabilise the affected area using steel bars, helical ties, or epoxy resins designed for structural repairs.
If cracks are caused by foundation movement, we fix the cause, not just the symptom. This may involve underpinning or restumping to stabilise the structure before repairing the wall itself.
We begin with a thorough site inspection, assessing crack patterns, soil conditions, and foundation strength.
If movement is detected, we design a tailored plan to stop it — from reblocking failing stumps to underpinning deeper foundations.
Cracks are repaired using the most suitable method: repointing, reinforcement, or full structural restoration.
Repairs are blended seamlessly with the existing wall. Where necessary, we return for follow-ups to ensure cracks remain closed.

Mike did an excellent job with the house levelling and re-stumping at my place. He was professional, reliable, and clearly very experienced. "Communication" - this is what was significant for this job to go smoothly. Mike is a professional, he does not disappear if things went pear shaped, he found a solution. There may have been issues during the job however open communication meant that Mike presented a solution that would fix the problem within tolerance, considering the house is over 40 years old.
